Community Engagement
During the 100 days of summer, Austin, Texas experiences very warm and dangerously hot temperatures. This poses a health threat to many residents who do not live in air conditioned homes and or apartments.
The Austin Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has been involved in the Austin community since 1949. With the financial support of the Austin Kappa Education and Leadership Foundation, the legacy of making a significant difference continues to be accomplished.
For the past three years the Austin Alumni Chapter has maintained a partnership with Family Eldercare of Austin. Over 300 box fans have been purchased and collected through its “Kooling Off the City” Campaign.
Family Eldercare disseminates the fans to those with the most need throughout Travis County as a part of its annual Summer Fan Drive.
