Mission Statement

The Austin Kappa Education and Leadership Foundation (AKELF), established in 2010, is the 501 (c) (3) philanthropic arm of the Austin (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Our mission is to provide educational support to youth in the greater Austin, Texas area. AKELF has as its core tenet to provide scholarships and other educational opportunities, support youth development activities, and provide mentorship to encourage academic excellence.

Additionally, the foundation acknowledges the need for educational resources and financial support to assist in achieving our expanded mission to:

• Assist young people in attaining higher education and reach goals that may have been deemed unattainable.
• Sponsor seminars, events, and school partnerships that promote educational goals and personal achievement.
• Foster leadership development, positive self-esteem and community awareness amongst young people.
• Develop partnerships with corporations, individuals, and other organizations that seek to promote education as a priority for today’s youth.
• Serve the greater Austin community at large.
